About

Thanks for checking out my site!

I created this site to accomplish these 3 goals:

1. Helping you see what is your available lens options for your DSLR camera

2. Helping you understand if a lens can fit your shooting needs

3. Helping you find the best price online

That’s pretty much all you need to know.

However, if you want to learn more about me and why I make this site, read on.

First of all, I am a VERY passionate photographer.

I can stay up all night long talking about photography with any photography lovers. In fact, I have done it TWICE!

Being a proud photography geek and an engineer, I always do my research online before buying any equipment, including lenses.

However, I was a bit disappointed with the quality of information out there, especially regarding camera lenses.

Everything seems to be scattered all around the place and it is a painful process to get an overall meaning from those pieces.

Sure, there are a mass of people gathered in forums. However, here are my experiences with them (DO NOT take this personally!):

1. The information is unorganized and can be confusing, especially for newbies.

A lot of people are quite nice about sharing their experience there.

However, you should be careful when reading at their comments. They often put comments like:

“Yes, that lens is good. I love it.”

I’m really not sure how that kind comment will it help other people…

2. Many people get way too technical scrutinizing every bit of equipment defects.

And this often gets in the way of taking pictures…

You know who they are. This is the group of people who you CAN NEVER PLEASE.

They got too stuck up commenting every bit of defect that they can find and take pride in revealing them to the public.

Some of them also said that they are being objective and such.

Heck, if they spend this much time in doing this, one will start to wonder if they have any time for taking pictures.

3. Many threads that starts out friendly end with people bashing each other’s equipment.

This is the worst part.

And mainly caused by an unmoderated forum.

Here’s the scenario. Someone asked if this Nikon lens is good, got a yes answer and then a Canon user comes along…

Then the thread will go to 50 pages long and it is filled with people bashing each other’s equipments.

Again, I don’t think this is helpful as well.

4. Many people complain about the lack of quality information out there but no one is taking action.

All they do is complain all day long in forum. Equipment not good enough, no info, etc.

So I have 2 options:

1. Join the crowd

2. Make a difference

I chose No. 2.

It’s primarily because I love photography and I truly want to help this community.

This is the reason why this sites (and my other lens review sites were born).

I personally do all the research for the lenses reviewed on this site with the aim to help photographers out there choosing the most appropriate lens for their DSLR camera given their photographic skill.

I have to say that this site is far from perfect, but as long as it is helping people, especially people like YOU, I am happy.

Alright, that is sure a bit long for an “About Me” page :D

Enjoy your stay here, use the “Contact Page” if you want to ask me any questions and catch you later!
